In a wake-up call, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in collaboration with Youth in Action Against Drug Abuse Network on Thursday 1st February 2024 sensitized Youths in Kissy about the dangers of smoking KUSH.
Making his statement, Founder and Executive Director, of Youth in Action Against Drug Abuse Network, Umaru Kanu said that KUSH has greatly affected young folks and there is therefore need for them to quit.
Mr. Kanu noted that their collaboration with NDLEA is geared towards putting fresh energy into the fight against Kush and other related drugs.
He recounted that the drug has killed over one hundred youths and made over thirty jobless.
He encouraged stakeholders to help in the fight against the substance as it makes the young generation collapse.
Making his statement Abdulai Jalloh of Kissy Mental Home who represented the Ministry of Health and Sanitation said that the substance has a different impact on young people including HIV & AIDS adding that the drug has a Mental effect on addicts.
The Chief Executive Director, of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Andrew Jaiah Kaikai said that the Agency is ready to fight against the substance adding that it is the very reason why the Agency has decided to collaborate with Local and International partners.
Mr Kaikai noted that the fight against KUSH should not just be to visiting them noting his Agency in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Welfare has put together the First Rehabilitation Center in Hastings to help take these guys from it
